Mari singing

Mari wanted to sing a song and record it and I thought she did such a good job that I decided to post it here. After she was finished singing, we watched it back and she giggled to herself the whole time. She was so proud of herself (and so am I).

In case you can't understand her, here are the lyrics....

I am a child of God and He has sent me here,
Has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear.
Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way.
Teach me all that I must do to live with Him some day.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

Since we were up after midnight last night (this morning) Keith was the first to tell me Happy Birthday today. Then when I woke Elena up for school, the first thing she said to me was Happy Birthday. She's normally a little grumpy in the mornings and I hadn't thought she'd remember, so I said "Elena, you remembered!!" And she said "Of course I remembered your birthday, Mom. I would be bad if I didn't remember your birthday". (Of course I assured her she wouldn't be, and then thanked her for remembering!) Then when Mari, Téa, and Amya woke up, they all came into our room and sang Happy Birthday to me with Keith. Then Keith took them to the kitchen to make me some breakfast - yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Probably not the most nutritious breakfast, but very yummy. Mari keeps walking up to me and singing Happy Birthday - it's very cute.

And the mail just came and it was ALL for me! A birthday card from Memmie (to which Amya said "She always sends pretty cards"), one from Sally&Ben (to which Amya said "They always send cute cards...usually with dogs" (and this one was no exception)) and one from my mom (to which Amya said "Is my money in there?" (long story, but it was)). Oh and I got a card from Ceci on Monday...the first one to arrive. After I opened the card from my mom and pulled out the 3 gift cards to Target, Bath&Body Works and Old Navy, plus a little cash (THANKS Mom), Keith had something to say - "Hey, is she trying to outdo me or what?" :) Thanks for the cards guys!! Love ya!

So far this is shaping up to be a pretty good birthday. And since it's my last one (I don't plan on getting older than 29), that's a very good thing.

Here's Mari singing to me....

And this is totally unrelated, but we think it's hilarious so I'm including it. We like to play a game we call "Who Says? Who Says?" (Amya made up the name when she was 2). We say a quote from a movie and the first person to correctly name the movie it's from or the character who says it, gets the next turn. Last night Téa came up to me with this gem....

I didn't think to have her say it again and tape it last night, but we got it this morning. I think it's SO funny how she changes her voice for the different parts. In case you can't figure it out, she's singing a line from the "A Whole New World" song in the movie Aladdin. She says "Don't you dare close your eyes (Aladdin's part) and then "A whole new world" (Jasmine's part). Oh and that's chocolate frosting from the cupcakes all over their mouths.

so I wish I could dance

So You Think You Can Dance is one of my most favorite TV shows. Seriously. Definitely my favorite reality show. And you can laugh at me all you want (believe me, Keith does) but I don't care. I love it. ("I'm in love! I'm in love! And I don't care who knows it!" What's that from?) And I am LOVING this season. So far, here are my two favorite routines from this season.

This is Jessica and Will. I have seriously watched this about 15 times just now. I can't get enough of it.

And here's Chelsea and Mark. Can't get enough of this one either.

And finally, here's Allison. She was on Season 2 and this was her last solo before she left. This is my all time favorite (it doesn't hurt that she picked a song from one of my favorite movies...anyone know which it is? Kara's not allowed to guess).

charlie bit me

Here's a youtube video I saw on someone else's blog. Keith and I have been laughing about it all weekend. Keith will try to imitate the little boy's accent (not very well, I might add) and we'll just start cracking up again. What a cute little boy!

did they film this in my house?

Literally, this could have been filmed in my very own house. This is what happens every single time Keith gets sick. Men.....

keith doing his "karate"

Keith has this pretend karate stuff he likes to do with the girls and they just eat it up. I don't know how much more of an explanation I can give without just showing you. So without further ado........

we have video!

I dragged my lazy bum upstairs to work on my Senior Project (it's due in less than two weeks and yes, I'm just barely starting to work on it). Anyway, that got boring real fast, so I thought I'd mess around with the video camera and get that one of Mari holding the puppy posted. Enjoy!

taylor drinking water

So Jenny and Taylor came over to visit the other day. While they were here, Jenny was letting Taylor drink some water. She was so cute, she'd drink it and then spit it right out. I taped her doing that and I thought you guys might want to see what Taylor's like in person. Oh, and look at Jenny's hair. It hasn't been that long in awhile and, I must say, it's lookin good.

Our new niece

So Keith's brother Ian and his wife Laura welcomed their newest daughter to their family on Mother's Day. She's a tiny little thing - she was born at 28 weeks and weighed in at 2 lbs. 1 oz. We went up to see her and Laura yesterday (and Ian and the kids too). I have never seen a baby that tiny before. But she's got some spunk to her - she had already pulled out her intubation tube all by herself. The doctors say that she's doing fine right now and they'll just have to keep watching her. Laura seemed to be doing good as well. We're so happy for them. Here's a little clip of their new baby. Look at how her hand compares to Ian's fingernail, and the size of the pacifier compared to her little tummy.

P.S. I didn't put her name because, when we left, Ian and Laura still weren't decided on a name for sure. But they were thinking Sofia Rose. How pretty!

Mexican dancer

We had a Mother's Day party in our ward, and they asked each group (Primary, Young Women, etc.) to participate in a little talent show. The Primary had some of the older girls learn a dance and perform it. Amya was asked to participate in the dance and we were so excited for her. She did such a good job - it was really her first time performing in front of a group. Isn't she great?!?!?!
