Bee Sting

My baby got stung by a bee!!!! Well, we don't know for sure it was a bee, but something got her. We were having a picnic at the park with our friends and Maricela started crying. We were eating, so I thought maybe she had bitten her tongue or something. I just held her on my lap until she stopped crying and then forgot about it. About 20 minutes later, I looked at her and realized her eye had swollen up really bad. And right in the middle of the swelling was an obvious sting/bite/something. I felt so bad for her. She hasn't complained about it anymore, she forgot about it as well, but it just looked so sad. The swelling has gone down some now, but there is definitely still some there. And it's a little reddish/purplish, almost like a bruise under her eye. My poor, poor baby. Here's a picture from right after we realized it had happened. Keith started calling her our chinese baby. ;P

pretty sisters

Amya saw me up here on the computer...one thing led to another and all of a sudden Amya was making a scrapbook page. I helped her move the things around and make them the right size, but she picked out everything - the pictures, the paper, the title, the 'pretty' things to go with the pretty sisters, everything!! She is so proud of her scrapbook page. We're going to get it printed for her. Anyway, enough talking. Here it is. Enjoy!

P.S. If you see this, leave her a comment. It'll make her day!

my princess

For credits, click here

Journaling reads: "Sleeping Beauty...or the Princess and the Pea? How beautiful you look, sleeping on your bed of pillows. You are always saying you are a princess...I just can't decide which one you are today. Either way, you'll always be my princess."

crazy stuff

So Keith and I went on a date tonight and on the way home, his truck ran out of gas. 1.5 miles from our exit. Luckily we were able to coast to the exit and there was a gas station right next to it that we were able to pull in to. He filled up the tank, and then the dumb truck wouldn't start. We were an hour late to get home to the babysitter and had to call someone to come pick me up so I could take her home, and a tow truck to tow the truck over to the dealership so they can look at it in the morning. So annoying.

Anyway, on to the point of the post. We went to pick up Keith when the tow truck got there. He was in the car with the girls and I was standing outside. Elena told him "Dad, I have to tell you something. But don't tell Mom. I broke one of her bracelets while you guys were gone." Then when I get back in the car she says, "Mom, Dad has something he needs to tell you". Um, didn't you just tell Dad that you didn't want me to know? Did you think I wouldn't get mad if Dad told me instead of you? Keith busted up laughing, and that made everyone laugh. Almost a good ending to a crazy night. (I only say almost cause I'm a little upset about the broken bracelet, and the truck being broken is kinda hampering my humor.)

behave

Apparently, the word behave is a confusing word for kids to deal with. Allow me to give you some examples....

Amya: Why aren't they being have? (upon seeing some very rowdy kids)

Elena : I be-NOT-have (when Keith asked her if she was going to behave)
Keith : What does be-not-have mean?
Elena: It means be not good.

Obviously they get the meaning of the word, but the conjugation of it is a completely different story. :)

Happy Birthday Maricela!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe my little baby is one! It doesn't seem like it's been that long, but I guess it has. She is such a sweet little baby and we love her so much. She had a lot of fun at her party today. She ate some cake....

and opened some presents.

She got a little upset with the present opening. All the kids were right up in her face, trying to help her and see what she got, and she started to cry. So we just let the other kids open her presents, and we let her sit down with her new book. Out of all the presents she got, this is the one she has played with the most. I think I have another book lover on my hands, and that couldn't make me happier.

Again, we can't say it enough - We LOVE you Maricela and we're so glad you're a part of our family!

stair master

I did a scrapbook page of Maricela climbing the stairs the other day. here it is. Hope you like it!

For credits, click here

In case you can't read it, the journaling says: "When did you get so big??? I can’t believe you are already climbing up the stairs. Where did my little baby go? It seems like just yesterday you learned to sit up, then you learned to crawl, then you were standing up, and now look at you! You’ll be one in a week and I don’t know how the time passed so quickly. Please stay my baby just a little longer. Don’t grow up so fast. I love you!!"

she's mean!

Elena: "I don't love her at all. She's so mean!" (talking about Amya)
Me: "Why don't you love her? She's your sister."
Elena: "Cause when I hit her, she hit me back!"
Me: "Umm, you shouldn't have hit her in the first place......"

You know those plastic kid playhouses that they sell at Home Depot for $1600? They're so cute, but SO expensive. Anyway, we were drving around HD the other day and Elena asked Keith to stop so she could look at the playhouse. She asked Keith if he would buy it for her, and he said no. Then she said "Well, we could stole it, but I guess that would be bad."

Amya had gotten dressed, wearing a black shirt and black skirt. I heard Elena tell her "Whoa, Amya. You look SOOOOOOOOOO beautiful." She said it so seriously. Way cute. Elena really likes black, and she looks good in it. I guess she was impressed that Amya was dressing in one of her favorite colors.

taylor drinking water

So Jenny and Taylor came over to visit the other day. While they were here, Jenny was letting Taylor drink some water. She was so cute, she'd drink it and then spit it right out. I taped her doing that and I thought you guys might want to see what Taylor's like in person. Oh, and look at Jenny's hair. It hasn't been that long in awhile and, I must say, it's lookin good.

a sparkling good time

so i just finished this tonight and decided to put it up before i forget. yes it's 12:17 am and i have class in the morning. i don't know why i'm still awake. so please forgive me for not using capital letters. hope you like it!

i just realized i didn't put a date on it. obviously we know it's the fourth of july, but in 30 years, we might forget what year it was. crap. i'm too tired to go back tonight and change it. i'll leave that for tomorrow. have a great weekend!!!!

p.s. in tooth news, amya lost another one (that makes 6 gone, 7 if you include the extra one) and maricela gained a tooth - she now has six. it's like she got all the teeth amya lost. :) if you don't think that's very funny, remember that i'm typing this at what is now 12:23 am and my sense of humor may be just a little bit off.

ummm, I don't have a fun title today

sooo...yes, I know it's been awhile. But in my defense, we've had some problems. Our computer completely shut down (we think it was a virus) and we went to Texas for a week. So I haven't been able to post for awhile. But now I'm back.

In Maricela news, that girl is movin!! She's crawling all over the house. She can pull herself up to stand (and does it quite often). She follows her sisters wherever they go and has so much fun playing with them. And the girls are so sweet to her. They bring her into their little clubhouses that they make, they make special clubhouses just for her, they share their food with her (not always a good thing), they get her toys to play with, they read to her, etc. It's so neat to watch them play together and know that they're developing this strong sister bond. You can tell that they all just really love each other. Hopefully they won't lose that closeness during the teenage years.....

Yesterday was a great day. We had so much fun together. We went up American Fork canyon to swim in a lake in the middle of the mountains. The water was a little cold at first, but once you got used to it, it felt SO nice. Here are some pictures of us at the lake.

There was a little prairie dog (I think that's what it was) that came over to where we are to beg for some food. The girls thought it was so cute and Elena was trying to get it to eat out of her hand. He was just about to when she moved her head and it scared him off. She got bored of waiting for him (she really did a good job of staying still - I wish she would stay that still at church!) and never did feed him out of her hand.

But Keith did and one of our friends that was there did, too. It got to the point where we had to shoo him away because he was trying to get into the Doritos bag!

Amya definitely won the "staying in the lake the longest" award. She was like a fish! She had her goggles on and was swimming around in tubes and with water wings. She did not want to get out of the water. Her lips were purple and she was shivering, and we couldn't convince her to come out. After she finally did, she ate a little, warmed up, and then said she was going back in!!! Crazy girl!

Tea had a good time. She loves rocks and dirt, so she was totally in her element. She didn't like the cold water very much. It took her awhile to get used to it, and she didn't want her whole body to be in it. She sat on top of me while I was in my tube.

And Maricela had fun as well. She has recently discovered the amazing taste of rocks and dirt and we had a hard time keeping her from eating every one she could put in her mouth. She didn't like the water at all. I tried to put her in it, but as soon as her feet touched the water, she lifted her legs up to her b*tt so that she wouldn't have to feel the cold water. Needless to say, she spent her time on the blanket, trying to eat more rocks.

When we were all tired out from the lake, we packed up our stuff and headed down to the farm. We rested up there and hung out with Bonnie, Joseph, George & Angie & their kids, and Keith's mom. We lit some fireworks around dusk and the girls had a lot of fun with that. They must have thrown hundreds of those little poppers, and the girls had fun going around and stomping on the ones that didn't explode. (Notice that Elena's barefoot but that didn't stop her!)

We also had a lot of fun with the sparklers.

Amya took this shot of Keith, Maricela, and me. I like how she's looking up at us.

George and Angie brought those little neon bracelet and necklace thingies. I think the girls were more excited about those than the fireworks. They had a lot of fun making necklaces, crowns, and bracelets.

One of my favorite shots.

july desktop

Just thought I'd show you guys what my July desktop looks like. All of these pics were taken at Keith's family reunion we went to in Texas. I love the picture of Amya dancing in the top right corner. She was doing "the swim". Enjoy!
