my crazy bro

one of the benefits of having my brother living with us.....here's a little video he put together.

Don't send a lame eCard. Try JibJab Sendables!

in case you're wondering, that's me, keith and my mom. aren't we cool? :)

february desktop

i just realized i never posted the february desktop. it couldn't be because i just did it a few days ago. no, that wouldn't be the reason. i wonder what it was.....

anyway, without further ado, here it is...

and lest you think i did this all by myself, i got this free from the blog of a digiscrap designer i love - The Shabby Princess. She is AWESOME. And while I could do this, it would take me a long time, and she does it way better. it's where i've gotten all my desktops. sorry I haven't mentioned that before. now you can enjoy them too. (here's her blog and her shoppe. )

funnies

two funnies heard in my class this week.....

1. I had given them a project to do and told them it was very important for them to do their BEST work on it. They quickly got right to work and the classroom was amazingly quiet. Suddenly (Gooney Bird Greene taught us that you should use the word suddenly to keep people interested in your story – such a cute book) one little boy said:

"Isn't this refreshing? Keep up the quiet guys! My headache's gone!"

Now, this particular little boy is usually contributing to the noise in the classroom, so it was quite funny to hear him say that. And sure enough, a few minutes later, he’s humming rather loudly. I said “Little Boy (name changed to protect the guilty), weren’t you the one who just said it was refreshing for it to be so quiet in here?” Everyone, including him, started to laugh and then they all got back to work. It was cute.

2. We have been talking about how February is Black History Month and have read books and learned more about Black History. I was putting out some books about Rosa Parks and Ruby Bridges I wanted them to read during centers and asked them if they knew why I was putting out those particular books. They all said "Because it’s Black History Month" and we kept going. Then I hear another little boy lean over to his partner next to him and say “When is white history month?” Oh boy.

arax & janelle

So Keith's little brother Arax (we call him Eric) got married on Friday. I used pics from his wedding to do the last page for the scrapbook class I was taking. I can't believe it's been four weeks already. Anyway, I've learned a lot and hopefully this will keep me scrapping more regularly. I'm already planning on signing up for her next course in a couple months. If you're interested in finding out more, her website is right here. Right now she offers classes for beginners, intermediates, and advanceds. I would totally recommend her classes to anyone.

Anyway, without further ado, here's the page. Hope you like it!

And if you're wondering why it's so wide, it's because this is two pages. I'm showing them to you together so you can see what they'll look like next to each other printed out, but I'll have them printed separately. You can kind of see where the division will be - it's a little to the right of Arax's name.

Here's my scrapbook page for this week. Hope you like it!

charlie bit me

Here's a youtube video I saw on someone else's blog. Keith and I have been laughing about it all weekend. Keith will try to imitate the little boy's accent (not very well, I might add) and we'll just start cracking up again. What a cute little boy!

image survey

So I saw this on someone else's blog and thought it would be cool to do.

Here is what you do:
FIRST - read the question
SECOND - type in the first answer that comes to mind in Google Image search
THIRD - post the first picture that comes up and write what you typed in

And I'm tagging anyone who reads my blog to do this yourself. And link me up when you do!!

1. Age I will be on my next birthday - 28

2. Favorite Food - mexican food

3. Favorite Color - purple

4. A place I would like to visit - Italy

5. Where I live - Utah County

6. Name of past or present pet - Panda

7. One of my favorite places - Florida

8. Favorite Holiday - my birthday

9. A bad habit - biting my lips
10. Favorite animal - horse

11. Favorite cartoon from childhood - smurfs

12. My name (or nickname) - Kathleen

13. Sport I play (or my favorite) - volleyball

14. Favorite extravagance - pedicures
15. A phrase I overuse - dang it!
There are a couple where I used the second picture that came up, but only because the girl before me had the same answer and had already used the first picture, or because the first picture wasn't exactly something I'd want on my blog (if you know what I mean). And I have no idea what that soldier guy has to do with biting my lips, but it was the first that came up, so there it is. And I LOVE what came up for "dang it". So funny. This was pretty fun! You guys should try it!!!

pigtails

man, I am on a roll. Here's my third layout in a week. 2nd in a day. pretty amazing if I do say so myself. This one is for that class I'm taking. I am having a lot of fun with it, and learning a lot of stuff that I think will help me be a better digi-scrapper.

p.s. these pictures were taken the very same day as the cocoa puff ones. i had to photoshop some chocolate off her face in the large picture. but that's about all i did to these pictures. aren't her eyes beautiful? that's what you get when you have an awesome lens and a lot of natural light. not to mention a gorgeous subject. :)

snow day

While I was helping my neighbor become addicted to this digital scrapping thing (hi Amy!!), I started another page of my own and finished it tonight.

cuckoo for cocoa puffs

look at me! look at me! (pointing upwards) I have a new blog header. I figured it was about time to update it. ;P Let me know if it looks funny to you so I can make any adjustments it might need.

And here's a page I just finished about Maricela's first time eating cereal by herself. Enjoy!

For credits, click here

In case you can't read the journaling, it says: "This was Maricela's very first time eating her own cereal, in her own bowl, with her own spoon. She was super excited to be feeding herself. It was so funny to watch her hold the spoon with one hand and guide it into her mouth with her other hand. She totally knew I was taking pictures of her and was hamming it up for the camera. And now she won't let us feed her any more - she HAS to do it herself. I am so proud of my little baby, who's not so little any more."

Thanks for looking!

no walls

so I've mentioned a few times that there aren't any walls in our upstairs. Some of you may have doubted me. I wouldn't blame you - it sounds quite strange to not have walls in the whole upstairs portion of your house. While previously I could only have said half of the upstairs, as of today I can now say the whole upstairs. You heard that right - look at what I came home to today.

There are two bedrooms up there and a big landing halfway up the stairs. Before, just one room and the landing were missing their walls, but now the other room has succumbed to the same fate. It is FREEZING up there (not to mention in my portable at school cause the heater's broken) and really messy. All I can say is this better not take him two more years. If it did, I don't know that he would live to see it's completion, as I would most likely kill him from frustration before eh was able to finish. ;P What am I gonna do with him?

Araceli

I have really been slacking off on the scrapbooking thing lately (not to mention the blogging). So to get myself going, I paid to take a scrapbooking class over the computer. I figured this would help me in two ways - one, you better believe I'm going to scrap if I paid to take a class and two, now I can learn some new things and improve my techniques. So this is the layout I did for the first lesson. I really had a hard time finding a picture for it. We learned how to change a photo to a sepia color and then have make part of the photo be in color. I finally settled on this one, and I think it turned out pretty good. Let me know what you think.
